Hunkering Down

Lots of Humbling experiences coming from this abode.  It is like I am starting something (long arm quilting, which technically I am... ha) for the first time because I making all of these frustrating mistakes.  Picture me moving from one project to the next project getting frustrated and just continuing to try again and again.  I like to call it Hunkering Down.  The unpicker is getting to be a very used tool right now.  I think it is because I am trying to do these amazing quilting designs and really all I should be doing right now is just some simple things, while working up to the complicating things.  So now I have made a little goal to keep the quilting simple for awhile.  Simple is good.  It actually turns out that it looks pretty darn good when things are simple.  The last few quilts I have kept this in mind and they turn out much better.  Here is a little proof.

Speaking of Hunkering down.  I have a couple new patterns that I have been working on.  I hope to have them finished by the end of this week.  That is another reason why things have been a little quiet around here.  I have tried to organize my life to patterns a little bit and then long-arming a little bit.  I have yet to add in a lot of other stuff but it seams appropriate right now that the weather isn't the greatest.

Speaking of weather...  we got to go down south in a crazy snow storm this last weekend.  Weston had fire training in St George and the kids and I tagged along for swimming and a weekend of leisure.  Trips are great but it seems that there is always so much to catch up on when you get back home.

With that weekend and other happenings, this whole month has been a little chaotic.  I guess it is because the LIST is a little packed.  The laundry keeps getting behind and the house stays at a level of slightly dirty.  Each day that goes by though, I get a quilt quilted or a pattern made or a idea is dreamed up.  That is the only promising part.  After I get the year end tax stuff completed and make a visit to the tax specialist I will be able to feel a little bit more at ease as well.  I also am Weston's office manager so I have many hats this month that aren't my favorite to wear ;)  I am going to make a confession which is kinda bad but I can't help but want to push through each month.  I really need to stop that.  Hopefully, this next month will be a lot better that way.  It does happen to be my Birthday Month so I think that it will.   I can't wait to share the finished projects!!  So I am going to get back to work :)

Your quilt looks awesome! I am happy to hear that even you have to rip some stuff out haha. Even if it's only because of your new machine you're learning to use. I can't wait for better weather! This winter has been long and terrible and it feels like it should be over already even though it will probably be cold for a lot longer.

Your quilting is coming along very nicely. Even though I had been machine quilting on my home machine for years, when I started with the long arm, it was totally different. I spent about 3 months just practicing! I quilted many charity quilts for my guild, and also am grateful to many friends who trusted me with their quilts while I was learning. I photographed everything I did along the way, so I could see my progress. It just takes a lot of practice! You will be great at it, I can tell.
